I woke up this morning with the news of the earthquake in Japan. My thoughts were for my Japanese exchange students and their families--praying they are all okay. Emailed Miyuki to see if her family is ok, but haven't heard back so far.
There is so much devastation it is almost unreal. Like a movie. Heard that our Hawaii family on Oahu are alright. I'll check later and see if things have changed.
Here, in Santa Cruz we are also having some repurcusions from the earthquake in our harbor. There are boats that are that have torn loose from their docks, boats floating around hitting other boats. Some the streets near the beach are closed and surfers have been warned to stay out of the water.
Looking outside it all looks calm and the sun is shinnng-- like a typical spring day.

I am still in the new stages doing this blog. I just need a place to put down my thoughts. I am still trying to get over a head injury I received in 2009.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post a couple of pictures my birdhouses. The sun it out right now but we are expecting more showers. Can't wait for Spring. Everyone have a beautiful day!

What a beautiful day in Santa Cruz. The sun is out and it will be a warm day. Trying to decide what to do today. I should get busy and do a clean up of the sewing area, but I have a hard time getting motivated to do so when the sun is out. Maybe I'll wait for a day when it is a bit gloomy.
There is a 6th anniversary party at one of the shops that I like to go to in Marina, about 35 miles from me. I may decide to take a ride and get in on the bargains that are being offered. Thant's all for now.

Today I will be getting back to my real love, making clothes. I started out doing this back in the sixty and seventies. I made all my work skirts and loved evey minute doing so. I made ties and shirts for my husband, clothes for my little girls, costumes, and an array of things for the home.
When my girls were in elementary school and in the scouts I started a group of girls wanting to earn their sewing badges. It was so fun. Several of the parents asked if I would continue to teach their girls to sew. Why not? I was a stay at home mom and thought I could earn a litlle extra money. I had so much fun. I continued these classes (2 to 3 days a week) for six years.
What's next for me? Who knows?
