My hearts on my handmade paper.

How do we measure time?  Days, weeks, months, years?  Tonight I will be celebrating my 38 years of marriage.  It seems like only a couple of years ago.  We now have four grandchildren, one is already in high school.  We are so proud of each one and hope to be around to see them all accomplish their dreams and ambitions.  I just wish I could slow down how fast the years are passing.  I will be celebrating a birthday this month--yes celebrate!  I used to hate having birthdays but now I realize must celebrate each and every Day.  I am truly blessed with family, friends and good health.

The rain has finally stopped for a little while, so we can dry out a little.

Did a little straightening up in the sewing area and ran across loads of bibs that I appliqued and machine embroidered on last year. Found lots of things I forgot I forgot I had.   More to come.

I have tried hand felting.  Fun but challenging.  Christsine taught a class last year and I came away with a cute blue bird.  The heart and the flower I did on my own.  It required more concentration than I expected.  I thought I could do this while watching tv.  Right, I can't tell you how many bandaids I needed when I finally finished.  I must say Christine's dolls are worth every dollar--and more!

On to my next challenge, you are never too old to learn, or so I've been told.

We are so proud of our daughter Christine,  She is a fabulous artist and doll designer.  Christine has spent 26 years doing what she loves, as well as raising our grandson Jackson.  She and her family live in Willow Glen CA. She recently participated in a doll show at Catus Gallery in southern CA.  Her dolls were a hit.  Go to her website and check out her dolls and illustrations.  Her website is listed at the right as well as in my followers.

Some of her newer dolls have sculped, hand painted faces, with felted bodies.  Just fabulous.

I started digging through some projects I started early last year.  I think it's time to get these ready to have quilted.  I still have a border to put on, but basically I'm done with this small quilt.  Happy are we that complete our projects.

Attended a baby shower this past week end for my niece.  Her sister chose a circus theme.  Really delicious menu with really cute cupcakes.
A good time was had by all.

I woke up this morning with the news of the earthquake in Japan.  My thoughts were for my Japanese exchange students and their families--praying they are all okay. Emailed Miyuki to see if her family is ok, but haven't heard back so far.
There is so much devastation it is almost unreal.  Like a movie.  Heard that our Hawaii family on Oahu are alright.  I'll check later and see if things have changed.

Here, in Santa Cruz we are also having some repurcusions from the  earthquake in our harbor.  There are boats that are that have torn loose from their docks, boats floating around hitting other boats.  Some the streets near the beach are closed and surfers have been warned to stay out of the water.

Looking outside it all looks calm and the sun is shinnng-- like a typical spring day.

Wednesday March 3, 2011

I am still in the new stages doing this blog.   I just need a place to put down my thoughts.  I am still trying to get over a head injury I received in 2009.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post a couple of pictures my birdhouses.  The sun it out right now but we are expecting more showers.  Can't wait for Spring.  Everyone have a beautiful day!
